Cardamom prices strengthened by 0.24 per cent to Rs 1,074.70 per kg in futures market today as speculators engaged in building up positions, tracking a firm trend at spot market on strong domestic as well as exports demand.

Besides, tight stocks position on fall in supplies from producing regions supported the upmove.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June advanced by Rs 2.60, or 0.24 per cent, to Rs 1,074.70 per kg, in a business turnover of 14 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May edged up by 10 paise, or 0.01 per cent, to Rs 1,270 per kg in 14 lots.

Analysts said widening of positions by participants due to pick up in domestic as well as exports demand against tight stocks position on restricted arrivals from producing regions, mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
