Rising for the second straight day, cardamom prices advanced by 0.53 per cent to Rs 798 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions, driven by rising demand in the spot market.

Besides, tight stocks on restricted supplies from producing regions and some exports enquiries supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May added Rs 4.20, or 0.53 per cent to Rs 798 per kg in a business turnover of 12 lots.

Analysts said building up of fresh positions by traders on the back of strong demand in the spot market against restricted supplies from producing regions mainly kept cardamom prices higher at futures trade.
