Cardamom rises by 0.3% on spot demand

Speculators enlarged positions amid improved demand in spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices edged up by 0.27% to Rs 993 per kg in futures trade today after speculators enlarged positions amid improved demand in spot market.

Also, tight stocks position in the physical market due to restricted arrivals from producing regions fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in May rose by Rs 2.70, or 0.27%, to Rs 993 per kg in a business turnover of 32 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in April traded higher by Rs 1.90, or 0.19%, to Rs 1,016.90 per kg in 517 lots.

Market analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators after pick up in demand in the spot market against tight supplies from growing regions, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
