Cardamom prices edged higher by

0.54 per cent to Rs 960 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after uptick in demand at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in June edged higher by Rs 5.20, or 0.54 per cent, to Rs 960 per kg in a business turnover of just two lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May traded higher by Rs 4.30, or 0.45 per cent, at Rs 964.80 per kg with a trading volume of 36 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions pushed up cardamom prices in futures trade.
