Amid pick up in demand and restricted arrivals from producing belts, cardamom prices edged higher 0.64 per cent to Rs 850.50 per kg in futures trade today as speculators enlarged position.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in far-month November rose by Rs 5.10, or 0.64 per cent to Rs 850.50 per kg in a business turnover of four lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in October contracts traded higher by Rs 4.60, or 0.56 per cent to Rs 831.50 per kg in 52 lots.

Traders said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at the futures trade.
