Cardamom prices today rose by Rs 5.90 or 0.73 per cent to Rs 812 per kg in futures market after speculators enlarged their bets supported by rising demand in the spot market.

Further, reports of a likely delay in the arrival of next crop and export demand also fuelled the uptrend.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July rose by Rs 5.90 or 0.73 per cent to Rs 812 per kg in a business turnover of 5 lots.

Similarly, spice for delivery in August gained Rs 4.70 or 0.52 per cent to Rs 896.60 per kg in 137 lots.

Market analysts said besides rise in demand in the spot market, reports of a likely delay in the arrival of next crop in the market and export demand mainly influenced cardamom prices at futures trade.
