Cardamom rises by 0.7% as demand picks up

Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market due to restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the upside

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices moved up by 0.73% to Rs 813.50 per kg in futures trade today as participants enlarged positions largely on the back of rising demand in the spot markets.

Besides, tight stocks position in the physical market due to restricted arrivals from producing regions supported the upside.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in December month rose by Rs 5.90, or 0.73% to Rs 813.50 per kg in business turnover of 302 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in January next year moved up by Rs 5.50, or 0.64% to Rs 859.70 per kg in 75 lots.

Analysts said speculators built-up fresh positions at prevailing levels, driven by pick-up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices in futures trade.
