Cardamom rises by 1.2% as demand picks up

Restricted supplies from producing regions also influenced prices

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Amid pick up in domestic demand and restricted supplies from producing regions, cardamom prices rose 1.25% to Rs 795 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in October month moved up by Rs 9.80, or 1.25% to Rs 795 per kg in business turnover of 21 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in September contracts traded higher by Rs 6.60, or 0.85% to Rs 784 per kg in 122 lots.

Market analysts said besides pick up in demand in the spot market, fall in supplies from producing belts mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
