Cardamom prices were up by 1.25 per cent at 823.00 per kg in futures trade today as traders indulged in creating fresh positions, triggered by tight supplies from producing belts at spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange cardamom for delivery in far-month July rose by Rs 10.20 or 1.25 per cent to Rs 823.00 per kg in business turnover of 6 lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in June month contracts traded higher by Rs 9.40 or 1.13 per cent to Rs 840.00 per kg in 144 lots.

Analysts said besides tight supplies in the physical market due to restricted arrivals from producing belts, pick up in demand mainly led to the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
