Cardamom prices edged higher by 1.29 per cent to Rs 922.10 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions after uptick in demand at the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in the current month contract edged higher by Rs 11.70, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 922.10 per kg in a business turnover of 61 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in June contract traded higher by Rs 10, or 1.10 per cent, at Rs 920 per kg with a trading volume of 35 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by traders due to pick-up in demand at the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions pushed up cardamom futures.
