Cardamom prices rose by 1.36 per cent to Rs 1,048 per kg in futures trade today as speculators built up fresh positions amid pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in July went up by Rs 14.10, or 1.36 per cent, to Rs 1,048.00 per kg, in a business turnover of two lots.

Similarly, the spice for delivery in August went up by Rs 8.20, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 967.00 per kg in four lots.

Analysts said fresh positions created by participants, driven by uptick in demand in the spot market against tight stocks position on restricted supplies from producing regions, mainly attributed the rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
