Cardamom rises 1.82% on spot demand

Speculators create fresh positions, as lower supplies from growing areas fuel uptrend

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices recovered 1.82 per cent to Rs 819 per kg in futures market today as speculators created fresh positions, taking positive cues from spot market on improved demand.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 14.60, or 1.82 per cent, to Rs 819 per kg in business turnover of 2 lots.

The May contract edged up by Rs 1.20, or 0.14 per cent, to Rs 879.70 per kg in 100 lots.

Analysts said fresh positions built up by speculators supported by rising demand in the spot market amid restricted supplies from producing belts mainly influenced cardamom prices at the futures trade.
