Cardamom up 1.3% as demand picks up

Spice for delivery in March fell 0.61%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices were up by 1.27% to Rs 1,061 per kg in futures trading today after speculators created fresh positions on the back of pick up in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April gained Rs 13.40, or 1.27%, to Rs 1,061 per kg in a business turnover of 214 lots.

However, the spice for delivery in March fell Rs 6.50, or 0.61%, to Rs 1,060.80 per kg in 534 lots.

Market analysts said speculative positions created by participants following pick up in demand in the spot market against restricted arrivals from producing regions mainly led to rise in cardamom prices at futures trade.
