Cardamom prices drifted lower by 0.28 per cent to Rs 1,565 per kg in futures trading today as speculators booked profits at prevailing levels, driven by easing demand in the spot market against adequate stocks.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in February month declined by Rs 4.40, or 0.28 per cent to Rs 1,565 per kg in business turnover of 20 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in far-month March contracts was trading lower by Rs 2.40, or 0.15 per cent to Rs 1,599.70 per kg in 1 lot.

Analysts said, besides profit-booking by participants at existing levels, fall in demand in the spot market against ample stocks position mainly led to the fall in cardamom prices at futures trade.
