Cardamom falls by 1.3% on sluggish demand

Ample stocks in the physical markets following higher supplies from the major producing belts weighed on cardamom prices

Continuing its slide, cardamom fell by another 1.31% to Rs 933 per kg in futures trade today due to sluggish demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for May contract declined by Rs 12.40, or 1.31%, to Rs 933 per kg with a business turnover of 20 lots.

Cardamom for delivery in April fell Rs 10.60, or 1.09%, to Rs 957.20 per kg with trading volume of 235 lots.

Marketmen said, besides profit-taking by speculators at existing prices, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices at futures market.
