Cardamom prices today rose by Rs 5.60 or 0.82 per cent to Rs 686.40 per kg in futures market after speculators widened their positions supported by good buying in the spot market.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April rose by Rs 5.60 or 0.82 per cent to Rs 686.40 per kg in a business turnover of 243 lots.
Similarly, spice for delivery in March gained Rs 4.30 or 0.65 per cent to Rs 657.40 per kg in 4 lots.
Market analysts said besides rise in demand in the spot market, tight supplies from producing regions mainly helped cardamom prices to trade higher at futures trade.
