Speculators created fresh positions, supported by rising demand in spot markets

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices rose by Rs 5.50 to Rs 812 per kg in futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions, supported by rising demand in spot markets.

Further, restricted arrivals in the physical markets from producing regions supported the uptrend in cardamom futures.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, cardamom for July delivery rose by Rs 5.50, or 0.68%, to Rs 812 per kg in a business volume of 12 lots.

Spice prices for the June contract was up by Rs 2.80, or 0.34%, to Rs 820.90 per kg in a business volume of 194 lots.

Traders said rising export as well as spot demand and restricted supplies from producing regions mainly led to an upsurge in cardamom futures prices.
