Cardamom down by 4% on profit booking

Speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid low demand in the spot market

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Cardamom prices plunged by 4% to hit lower limit at Rs 816 per kg in futures trade today as speculators booked profits at existing higher levels amid low demand in the spot market.

At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, cardamom for delivery in April tumbled by Rs 34, or 4%, to hit lower circuit at Rs 816 per kg in business turnover of 30 lots.

Likewise, the spice for delivery in May edged down by Rs 11.00, or 1.26% to Rs 860.90 per kg in 204 lots.

Market analysts said besides profit booking by participants prevailing higher levels, fall in demand in spot market also put pressure on cardamom prices in futures trade.
