Cardamom moves up by Rs 5 on pick up in demand

Cardamom small prices rose by Rs 5 per kg in the national capital today on the back of rising demand from retailers and stockists amid restricted arrivals from growing regions.

Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold rose by Rs 5 each to conclude at Rs 530-655, Rs 540-545, Rs 560-570 and Rs 645-655 per kg, respectively.

Traders said apart from buying support from retailers and stockists, rising domestic demand, mainly pushed up cardamom prices at the wholesale kirana market here.

Following are today's quotations (in Rs):

Ajwain (per kg) 150-240, black pepper (per kg) 730-860, betel-nut (kg) 260-330, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,375-1,380 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,470-1,650.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 530-655, cardamom (colour robin) 540-545, cardamom bold 555-565, cardamom extra (bold) 645-655 and cloves 555-675.
