Cardamom prices were up by Rs 10 per kg in the national capital today largely on buying support from retailers and stockists amid paucity of stocks following restricted arrivals from producing belts and concerns over fall in production in major cardamom producing areas.

Cardamom small varieties such as chitridar, colour robin, bold and extra bold increased by Rs 10 each to settle at Rs 700-750, Rs 680-740, Rs 730-750 and Rs 900-950 per kg, respectively.

Traders said buying by retailers and stockists against restricted arrivals from producing belts, mainly pushed up cardamom prices on the wholesale kirana market here.

Following were today's quotations per quintal:

Ajwain 15,000-20,000, black pepper (per kg) 780-980, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,350-1,450 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,500-1,650.

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 700-750, cardamom (colour robin) 680-740, cardamom bold 730-750, cardamom extra (bold) 900-950 and cloves (kg) 950-1,000.
