One such unit has already been established in Mewat.
Stating this at the 8th Asian Interventional Cardiology Conference here today, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said under the programme, citizens are screened for hypertension, heart diseases, diabetes and cancer.
"However, in order to meet the ever increasing load of patients suffering from heart diseases, we need to set up more CCUs. For this, we need more cardiologists and if they are not available, we will have to develop appropriate skills of our doctors to do screening and also provide treatment," he said.
Heart ailments have a close connection with a person's lifestyle and this prompts the need to promote a healthy way of living, he said.
Though Haryana was committed to provide quality healthcare to its people, the real challenge was to provide it at affordable rates, he said.
India was emerging as a major health tourism destination and a big pool of qualified professionals and latest medical techniques were now available in the country, with a number of health institutes coming up in the NCR region.
Naresh Trehan, Chairman and Managing Director of Medanta, said a number of good health institutions are operating in Haryana and new techniques are being used in the heart care sector, but said there is a need to spread awareness about heart diseases so that they can be prevented.
