Carnival Group eyeing 60 screens in Kerala by year end

Mumbai-based Carnival Group today announced the launch of a premium multiplex near here as part of its plans to have 60 screens in Kerala by this year end.

The multiplex being built at Kariyadu, Nedumbasserry, near Kochi International Airport is themed around Kerala heritage, the group, which acquired Big Cinemas from Reliance Media in 2014, said in a release here.

In Kerala, Carnival Cinemas currently operate 13 screens with 4,077 seats at seven locations contributing to six per cent of the Kerala movie market share.

"Carnival aims to have 60 screens by end of 2015 and targets to contribute around 25 per cent plus of the total Kerala movie revenue share," it said.
 

P V Sunil, Director and CEO of Carnival Cinemas said Carnival Cinemas is opening a three-screen multiplex at Karunagapilly on 29th of this month.

"Imminent launches are three screens each at Kodungalloor and Muvattupuzha which shall be announced shortly. Ongoing multiplex projects are at Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Trichur, Mattannoor, Kannur and Thalachery amongst many more," he said.

After its latest acquisition of Stargaze Entertainment from Network18 Media, Carnival Cinemas owns 360 screens across the country.

Carnival Group is also developing a unique chain of Entertainment Zone in Madhya Pradesh.

"These facilities are aimed at tier 2 and tier 3 cities in the state. Similar projects are planned for states like Odisha, Bihar, UP and Gujarat. With this organic growth, Carnival plans to achieve its Vision of 1000 screens in record time," the release added.
