Actress Carrie Fisher has urged her 'Star Wars' co-star Harrison Ford to take a break following his plane crash.

The 58-year-old actress has made a plea to her co-star to relax for a bit following the incident, reported People magazine.

Addressing Ford, she said, "I know you have incredible bounce back, please take a bounce break for awhile. Can I drive next time?"

Ford, 72, has himself to thank after a textbook landing ensured he cheated death.

The actor was forced to ground his two-seater vintage World War II training plane on a golf course in Venice, Los Angeles after it suffered from engine failure on Thursday.

He escaped with his life but is currently in hospital recovering from the accident, which left him with multiple gashes on his head.

Mark Hamill, who plays Luke Skywalker in the sci-fi film also tweeted his well wishes to the actor.

"Glad to hear Harrison is doing well. Get well soon. May all his future flights be green-screen! (sic)," he said.

A spokesperson confirmed that whilst Ford was a bit 'banged up' following the incident, he is expected to make a 'full recovery'.

"Harrison was flying a WW2 vintage plane today which stalled upon take off. He had no other choice but to make an emergency landing, which he did safely. He was banged up and is in the hospital receiving medical care. The injuries sustained are not life threatening, and he is expected to make a full recovery," the spokesperson said.
