Cases were registered against two policemen at Barshi in Solapur district for dereliction of duty after they failed to report on time for election duty, officials said today.

Police naik Dattatray Sonkamble and constable Alvindarsingh Katghar of Nanded police had been deputed for bandobast duty for Zilla Parishad and Panchayat Samiti polls at Barshi.

The two were supposed to report to Barshi police on February 19, but they arrived a day late, and were sent back as they were not wearing the uniform.

This behaviour amounted to negligence and dereliction of duty, said sub-inspector Satyajeet Adhatrao, who is investigating the case.
