Case against Google for collecting classified data: Govt

Presently the CBI is investigating the case

A case has been registered against search giant Google for collecting classified data in violation of the National Map Policy 2005, the government today said.

"M/s Google India Pvt Ltd, without any approval of Ministry of Defence or any other agency of Government, conducted the Mapathon 2013 competition during February 12, 2013 to March 25, 2013 and collected data, including classified data, in violation of the National Map Policy-2005.

"An official complaint (FIR) has been lodged by Survey of India with the Delhi Police in February, 2013. Presently Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is investigating the case," Union Minister Jitendra Singh said.
 
The Minister of State for Science and Technology said this in a written response to a question in Lok Sabha on Wednesday.
