A case was today registered by police against Tamil Nadu Minister for Information Rajendra Balaji for allegedly holding out a threat to officials at an AIADMK workers meeting at nearby Tirumangalam on March 16, officials said.
Balraj, the Village Administrative Officer of Tirumangalam, in his complaint said the minister had told party workers during the meeting to inform him if any case was registered against them by officials, they said.
He also reportedly told them that he would get the officials transferred if they resorted to such action.
Police said the case was registered under IPC 189 (threat of injury to public servant) and 505(1(b) (verbally attacking government employees).
