Tamil Nadu Food Minister R Kamaraj has been booked for allegedly cheating a real estate businessman of Rs 30 lakh, following a Supreme Court order.
The development comes in the wake of the April 28 order of the apex court, directing the state police to register an FIR against Kamaraj.
SVS Kumar had sought a direction from the apex court to register a case against the minister, considered a close aide of AIADMK (Amma) Deputy General Secretary T T V Dinakaran.

But when Kamaraj became a minister, he neither got the job done nor returned the money, the petitioner alleged.
He also stated that he was being threatened by some unidentified persons.
Police said a case has been registered against the minister under IPC section 420 (cheating) and 506(1) (criminal intimidation).
The Supreme Court has been informed of it and an affidavit filed in this regard there, the police said.
However, they did not divulge details of when the case was registered.
Kumar had filed a complaint with police at Mannargudi in 2015 against Kamaraj and Ramakrishnan.
Police said Ramakrishnan, who is a state government official, is the first accused in the case.
