A criminal case was filed today in a district court here against officials of "Maggie" noodles-maker Nestle and filmstars Amitabha Bachachan and Madhuri Dixit who are brand ambassadors of the "harmful" food item.

The case was filed by a lawyer Sudhir Kumar Ojha in the court of Muzaffarpur Chief Judicial Magistrate Ved Prakash Singh.

Ojha, who is pleading his own case, said the CJM had transferred the case to the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Ramchandra Prasad who would hear it tomorrow.

The complainant claimed that he puchased Maggie on May 30 and that he was taken ill after he ate it. This prompted him to file a case against Nestle, the make of Maggie noodles, and the film stars who are the product's brand ambassadors.

Besides Bachachan and Dixit, the name of another Bollywood actress Preity Zinta also appeared in the case.

The case has been filed under IPC sections 270 (malignant act likely to spread infection of disease dangerous to life), 273 (sale of noxious food or drink), 276 (sale of drug as a different drug or preparation) and 420 (cheating and dishonesty).
