Case filed against Puducherry Cong chief

Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee President A.Namassivayam and five other party workers were today booked on a complaint made by an industrialist that he was assaulted by the PCC chief and others within the premises of his industrial unit, police said.

Namassivayam is a candidate in the Villianoor assembly constituency.

Chief Electoral Officer V.Candavelou told reporters here that a complaint was received from Damodaran, son-in-law of AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP N.Gokulakrishnan, that he was assaulted by Namassivayam within the premises of his industrial unit at Villianoor last night.

Damodaran alleged that his industrial unit was ransacked and damaged. Candavelou said the complaint was forwarded to the police at Villianoor for follow up action.
 

Police said based on the complaint cases were registered against Namassivayam and others under different sections of IPC and investigation was on.

Damodaran had also filed the complaint with the District Election Officer P.Jawahar in this connection.

The reason for the alleged attack could not be known immediately.
