Sleuths of ACB today claimed to have unearthed cash and other investments worth over Rs 60 lakh from two houses of a BMC's Vigilance Officer after nabbing him while he was taking a bribe of Rs 3 lakh from an octroi agent here.
The Class-I officer, Sunil B Bane, Deputy Collector (Vigilance) was nabbed last night while receiving the sum from the complainant, an Octroi agent, ACB SP Sandeep Karnik said in a statement here.
Bane had demanded the bribe for not initiating any action on vehicles handled by the agent, the ACB said.

ACB DGP R J Kadri told the court that the agency was still in the process of carrying out searches at Bane's houses in Mulund and Goregaon and has so far found cash and other investments worth over Rs 60 lakh.
Arguing for Bane's remand, the DGP said that the accused had earlier collected Rs 50,000 from the complainant, which needs to be recovered and his bank lockers need to be searched.
"The ACB will also have to find out if any other person from BMC was also involved in the transactions...His (Bane's) voice samples need to be taken by the investigating team," argued Kadri.
The ACB said in a release that they recovered cash of Rs 8 lakh from Bane's house, besides gold weighing 7.30 grams.
"The ACB also recovered documents pertaining to the flats owned by him (Bane) and his wife in Mulund and Goregaon and purchase of land of 23 guntas at Kankawli in the name of one Alose.
Mulund and Goregaon are suburbs of Mumbai.
"The ACB also recovered FD receipts with the value of Rs 80,000 and also the FD receipts in the name of his two daughters in different banks, totalling Rs 5.59 lakh, besides receipts of LIC premium worth Rs 7.55 lakh. The team also recovered documents pertaining to expensive cars and a two-wheeler (during the searches)," the release said.
