Three unidentified men allegedly looted Rs 1.5 lakh and gold jewelery worth around Rs 1.35 crore at gunpoint from an office of a private finance company here today, police said.

The incident took place at the branch of Muthoot Finance gold loan branch in Teen Batti area at around 11 AM when only two of its employees were on duty, said Daman Superintendent of Police (SP) Eish Singhal.

These men posed themselves as officers of the crime branch, police said.

"Two of them came inside the office and one of them took guard outside the door to keep a watch. Initially, they started threatening the staff by claiming that they are involved in illegal business," Singhal said.

"After this, the duo asked the staff to show them cash and gold possessed by the branch for verification," he added.

"However, when the employees denied and asked the duo to produce their identity cards, the duo pulled out their guns," the officer said.

According to Singhal, at gunpoint they forced the staff to open the safe and fled with Rs 1.5 lakh in cash and gold jewelery worth around Rs 1.34 crore with their accomplice.

"They also took the hard disk attached with CCTV. The staff has informed us that the branch manager was out of town and that they have not appointed a security guard since last two months," he added.

A case has been registered in this connections and efforts are on to nab the culprits, police said.
