Election officials in the district have seized so far Rs 33.36 lakh from various persons during vehicle checks as they could not account for the money.
Of the total amount seized, Rs.18.80 lakh have been returned to the owners, after they produced valid documents, official sources said.
Similarly, the election department has registered 240 cases for violation of the model code of conduct in the district, which comprises 10 assembly constituencies.
The violations include, hoisting party flags, graffiti and posters on public and private places, they added.
