Diamond Jubilee celebrations of the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India (CEPCI), an apex body of cashew exporters, will be held here next week, officials said today.

About 500 delegates from the country and 50 from overseas will also attend the fourth edition of 'Kaju India 2015', an international buyer seller meet and exhibition for cashew industry, to be held from September 29 to October 1, they said.

CEPCI Vice-Chairman P Sundaran told reporters that the Indian exporters would get an opportunity to exhibit their products, so that there will be greater awareness among the importers about the availability of various products of cashew which will help increase value-added exports.

The exhibition will also showcase latest processing and packaging machinery, technology, quality testing process/systems etc which would be a great help to our processor exporters, he said.

"The buyer-seller meet will help to tie up the business deals between buyers and sellers of Indian Cashews on the spot. This will also help us to project our capabilities and provide better awareness of Indian cashew industry to the International buyers/traders," Sundaran said.

In order to promote Cashew export, the government has been continuously assisting the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India through Five Year Plans.

In the XI Five Year Plan, the Cashew Export Promotion Council of India was provided an assistance of Rs 9.02 crore for upgrading processing facilities.

Similarly, for the XII Five Year Plan (2012-2017) the CEPCI has been sanctioned Rs 26 crores for modernisation, diversification, Process Mechanization, Automation of Cashew Processing Units, quality up-gradation and Food Safety Certifications.
