Advocate Mahipal Ahluwalia, appearing for co-accused and L K Advani's former aide Sudheendra Kulkarni before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal said that "instead of filling up the lacunae, they (Delhi Police) are creating lacunae."
He further told the court that the police has "miserably failed to do any further investigation in the case as directed by the court."
Similarly, advocate Anil Soni, who appeared for BJP leader Faggan Singh Kulaste, said the court should see if the charge sheets filed by the Delhi police is proper or not.
During the hearing, the defence counsel told the court that they need transcripts of the CD, which has been provided to the police by a private news channel during the probe into the case.
The police said they are ready to provide it to the defence counsel but they need some time to prepare transcripts after which the court, which was scheduled to hear the arguments on charges in the case, slated the matter for further hearing on January 22.
Meanwhile, the court allowed Amar Singh's plea, filed through his counsel S P M Tripathi, for exemption to him from personal appearance for the day on the ground that he is in Chennai to attend a marriage ceremony.
Earlier, the police had told the court that it did not find any "clue" about the money trail in the case. (More)
