Casinos in Goa to remain shut on October 2

The Goa government has asked the casinos in the state to remain closed on October 2, the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi.

A notification to this effect was issued today by Home Department.

The casinos have been asked to shut down on October 2 to pay homage and respect to Gandhi, it said.

Under Secretary (Home) Rohan J Kaskar said that the directions should be adhered to scrupulously.

Goa will also observe a dry day on October 2.

The coastal state has six off shore casinos and over a dozen on shore casinos which are operating in different five star hotels.
