After a two-day losing streak, castor seed prices recovered Rs 46 to Rs 4,115 per quintal in futures trade as speculators created fresh positions, supported by a firm trend in the physical market.
According to market players, the rebound in prices was mostly supported by built-up of fresh positions by participants at spot markets amid covering-up of short positions at current levels.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seeds for delivery in February contracts recovered Rs 46, or 1.13 per cent, to Rs 4,115 per quintal with a business turnover of 55,420 lots.
Castor seed for delivery in current month also rose Rs 42, or 1.05 per cent, to Rs 4,056 per quintal with an open interest of 14,490 lots.
