Castor seed prices shed Rs 30 to Rs 4,068 per quintal in futures trade today on liquidation of holdings by the operators, tracking negative physical sentiment.
Market players attributed the downfall to weakening prices at physical markets due to building up of stocks on regular supplies from growing regions amid slackness in demand from soap, paint and lubricant industries.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed delivery for March weakened by Rs 30 or 0.73 per cent to Rs 4,068 per quintal, having an open interest of 32,380 lots.
Likewise, the delivery for the second most traded April month receded by Rs 15 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 4,138 per quintal, with an open interest of 36,450 lots.
