Castor seed prices rose by Rs 9 to Rs 4,310 per quintal in futures trade today as traders accumulated fresh positions in line with a firm trend at the physical markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castor seed for delivery in November was trading higher by Rs 9 or 0.21 per cent to Rs 4,310 per quintal, having an open interest of 3,760 lots.
The most-traded contract of December also inched up by a similar margin, to trade at Rs 4,383 per quintal, clocking an open interest of 82,280 lots.
Market players said, apart from building up of positions by participants, a firm trend at the spot markets on restricted supplies and strong demand in physical markets also supported the upside in castor seed prices in futures trade here.
