Castorseed prices dropped 1.38 per cent to Rs 4,287 per quintal in futures trading today as speculators locked-in gains at higher levels.
Besides, weak export demand put pressure on the commodity prices.
Marketmen said besides profit-taking by speculators, sluggish demand from soap and other consuming industries at spot markets, weighed on castorseed prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed prices for August delivery dropped Rs 60, or 1.38 per cent, to Rs 4,287 per quintal, with an open interest of 13,230 lots.
Similarly, the most-active delivery in June traded Rs 45, or 1.08 per cent, lower at Rs 4,106 per quintal, in an open interest of 1,21,620 lots, while delivery in May fell by Rs 44, or 1.08 per cent, at Rs 4,044 per quintal in an open interest of 86,560 lots.
