Castorseed prices dropped by Rs 20 to Rs 4,861 per quintal in futures trade today after participants booked profits at prevailing levels amid a weak trend at the physical markets.

Market players said profit-booking by speculators at existing levels coupled with subdued spot markets, mainly led to fall in castorseed prices at futures trade.

At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, castorseed for delivery this month slipped by Rs 20 or 0.41 per cent to Rs 4,861 per quintal, in an open interest of 33,600 lots.

Also, castorseed for delivery in May fell by Rs 18 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 4,934 per quintal, depicting an open interest of 84,960 lots.
