Castorseed prices were down by Rs 66 to Rs 4,208 per quintal in futures trading today as participants trimmed positions amid a weakening trend in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for October contracts dropped by Rs 66, or 1.54%, to Rs 4,208 per quintal, with an open interest of 1,22,510 lots.
Similarly, September contracts lost Rs 60, or 1.43%, at Rs 4,146 per quintal, in an open interest of 1,65,700 lots.
Marketmen said the fall in castorseed prices at futures trade was mostly due to offloading of positions against increased supplies in the spot market.
Besides, lower export demand dampened the trading sentiments to some extent, they added.
