Castorseed recovers in futures trade on short-covering

Castorseed prices recovered by Rs 54 to Rs 4,058 per quintal in futures trading today largely supported by covering-up of short positions by speculators at prevailing lower levels.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, castorseed for delivery in far-month August contracts was trading higher by Rs 54, or 1.35 per cent to Rs 4,058 per quital, with an open interest of 20,430 lots.

Also, castorseed for delivery in current month (May) contracts gained Rs 36, or 0.98 per cent to Rs 3,717 per quintal, having an open interest of 12,690 lots, while most active June contracts advanced by Rs 34, or 0.89 per cent to Rs 3,847 per quintal and open interest stood at 1,84,950 lots.
 

Marketmen said besides covering-up of short positions by speculators, pick up in demand in spot market, helped castroseed prices to trade higher at futures trade here.
