Catholic bishops' meet to be held in Kerla

The biennial meet of the Catholic Bishops Conference of India will be held at Pala near here from February 5 to 12 when diocesan heads from around the country will attend and discuss spiritual and organisational affairs of the Church.

The meet would be attended by 235 Bishops from 165 dioceses belonging to Syro Malabar, Syro Malankara and Latin hierachies, Mar Joseph Kallarangat, Bishop of Pala Diocese, told a press meet here today.

Papal envoy to India Salvatore Pinachio would attend the plenary session to be held at Alphonsian Pastoral Institute at Arunapuram, named after Saint Alphonsa who hailed from Pala diocese. The present president of CBCI, Cardinal Oswald Gracias, will preside over the inaugural of the meet.
 

The delegates would also include 12 auxiliary bishops, two Curia Metropolitans of Syro Malabar Church and 56 retired bishops would participate in various sessions.

A CBCI delegation, led by its Secretary General and Agra Bishop Albert D'souza, is already in Pala to review the arrangements of the meet.
