PMK youth wing leader and MP Anbumani Ramadoss today criticisd Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K Palanisamy for remaining a 'mute spectator' on the Centre's notification banning sale of cattle for slaughter, which affected the farmers.

When Chief Ministers of neighbouring States had boldly to stated that they would not implement the Central Government's order, Palanisamy had not reacted to the issue, he told reporters here.

The ban on cow sale at markets for slaughtering would badly affect the livelihood and economy of farmers and poor people, Anbumani said.

Farmers used to sell cattle for marriages and educational purposes, he said, adding that since the state government has not helped the distressed farmers, they should be allowed to at least sell cattle to make both ends meet.

He said the economy of Tamil Nadu was in bad shape and about 1.5 crore youths were unemployed, with 84 lakh registering their names at employment Exchanges.

On Goods and Services Tax, Anbumani said industries in the State would be badly hit once GST was implemented.

He demanded that the State government take steps to get the slab rate reduced by approaching the GST Council.

On the possible entry of Tamil superstar Rajanikanth into politics, he said though the actor had not spelt out his strategy, he could lend support to PMK, which would be able to administer the state well.
