Cattle thief arrested

A member of Mewati gang of cattle thieves was arrested here, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, Rajesh alias Putia (30) was arrested yesterday from Vijay Vihar in Outer district, they said.

Putia, who is wanted in 12 cases and declared proclaimed offender in five, along with his other gang members had planned to steal some stray cattle and had come to the national capital for a recee of area.

"The gang had stolen more than 5,000 cows," Addl DCP (Outer district) M A Rizvi said.

The gang stole cattle from Nangloi, Najafgarh, Jafarpur, Kapashera, Mundka, S B Dairy, K N K Marg, Subash Place, Daryaganj, Vijay Vihar, Burari, Balswa Dairy, Badarpur and Kanjhawala in Delhi and in several areas of Western Uttar Pradesh, he said.
