CBFC chief Joshi, Kukunoor part of IFFI steering committee

The information and broadcasting ministry today constituted a steering committee for the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) with film director Nagesh Kukunoor and lyricist Prasoon Joshi among its members, an official statement said today.

Joshi had recently replaced Pahlaj Nihalani as the chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC).

The IFFI is proposed to be held from November 20-28 in Goa.

In a statement issued late tonight, the information and broadcasting ministry said the steering committee will have 13 members, including Jahnu Barua (convener), Piyush Pandey, creative director of Ogilvy & Mather (India), and film director and producer Shoojit Sarcar.
 

Other members are Siddharth Roy Kapur, Bharat Bala, Anand Gandhi, Vani Tripathi, Shaji N Karun, Meren Imchen and Ashwini Iyer Tiwari. The director of NFDC is also a member of the committee.

The ministry also constituted a technical committee which will have has 12 members. Kukunoor, who is also a member of steering committee, will be the Chairman of the technical committee.

However, the statement did not mention about the preview committee whose second meeting to select the films to be screened at the festival was postponed, amid reports that Union I&B minister Smriti Irani may dissolve the group.
