CBI arrests a Union Bank official in a graft case

CBI has arrested a Union Bank of India branch manager in Pune in a graft case while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 9000 from a farmer for clearing his crop loan, agency spokesperson said here today.

She said a case was registered under section seven of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 regarding demand of bribe of Rs 9000 by the branch manager.

He allegedly demanded the bribe for sanction and disbursement of crop loan of Rs three lakhs to the complainant, she said.

"CBI laid a trap and the branch manager was caught red handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of Rs 9,000 from the complainant inside the bank premises," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said.
