CBI arrests archaeologist in Goa for taking bribe

CBI today arrested a superintendent archaeologist for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a line producer in Goa.

Ramesh Mulimani was arrested while receiving the alleged bribe money from the line producer, CBI sources said.

"The complainant, a line producer, alleged in his complaint that Superintending Archaeologist, Goa Circle, had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for releasing the security deposit amount and giving permission for shooting in future without any hindrance," a CBI spokesperson said here today.

The official said CBI registered a case and laid a trap following which Mulimani was caught red-handed while allegedly demanding and accepting the bribe.
 

Searches are being carried out at the residential premises of the accused, the spokesperson said.
