CBI has arrested a branch manager of Central Bank of India in Tamil Nadu while he was allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 40,000 for sanctioning a loan of Rs 3 lakh under the Unemployed Youth Employment Generation Programme (UYEGP).
A CBI spokesperson said here today that a case was registered against the branch manager on a complaint that he had allegedly demanded bribe of Rs 40,000 for sanctioning a loan of Rs 3 lakh under the UYEGP.
"CBI laid a trap and the accused was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe of Rs 40,000 from the complainant. Searches were also conducted at three places on the premises of the accused," the spokesperson said.
The spokesperson said the accused was produced before the special judge's court for CBI cases in Coimbatore and was remanded to judicial custody till July 30.
