CBI arrests DGM, ONGC in graft case

CBI today arrested a Deputy General Manager of ONGC in Assam while he was allegedly taking a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor for releasing security deposit of the work done by him.

CBI sources said M R Loachan, posted as DGM (civil) and Maintenance, ONGC at Sivasagar (Assam) was arrested while allegedly accepting the bribe from the complainant.

"A case was registered against DGM...On the allegations that the accused demanded a bribe from the complainant for releasing the security deposit that was refundable after completion of work. CBI laid a trap and caught the accused while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000/- from the complainant," CBI spokesperson said.
 

She said searches were conducted at the office and residence of the accused which led to recovery of cash of Rs five lakh from the drawer of his office table.

The accused will be produced tomorrow in a Guwahati court, she said.
